VMware released VMware Studio 1.0 which provides the possibility to create OVF images. altough the final release of Open Virtualization Format (OVF) is not yet available, this is a major step ahead for those companies running on different systems from different vendors (as most companies do), do keep in mind that OVF is initially developped for ISVs running their own appliances.
Citrix and IBM are working together to deliver OVF capabilities and management tools to XenServer, probably this quarter.
