I want to clarify that this project is being released by the open source Xen.org community and not Citrix. All projects within the open source Xen.org community are not “owned” by any company and it is important to realize the distinction. Any project within Xen.org can be taken by a company and turned into a product if they desire, however, I am not aware of any intention by Citrix to turn this project into a product.

Thanks for the write-up. Just as a point of clarification, the UCS 6100 fabric interconnects and UCS 2100 fabric extenders, like the regular Nexus family, are not bound to a specific hypervisor–they will happily pass all traffic. The UCS does ship with the the Nexus 1000V, which is designed to work specifically with VMware.

As for the vendor-lock-in peice, I am hearing that a lot, but so far, ti really seems like a talking point–I do not see how the UCS is any worse than other existing server platforms.

XPS printing uses the Microsoft XPS Universal Printer Driver. XPS is the new Microsoft XML paper specification supporting next generation of windows applications.

It only works with XenApp 5.0 on Windows 2008, it is not available in any of the previous versions of XenApp 4.5, 4.0 or 3.0.

For more info on XPS documents and the printer driver, I would like to refer you to the corresponding page at Microsoft (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/features/xps.aspx)

Well, it is called the “50% Virtualization Guarantee,” so limiting participation to virtualization environments would be quite logical and expected. I wouldn’t be too surprised to see similar guarantees extended to other areas moving forward.
